Sussex in Transition
..for a low carbon, socially just, happier and healthier future.
Sussex in Transition to Sustainability is a platform and umbrella for all societies and campaigns concerning sustainability and making the University a more sustainable place. We educate people about the different cooperatives and green societies on campus, such as Brown Bag Organic, Climate Action Movement, Freewheelers, RE:Cycle, Scoop, and Roots. We get them all together, share skills and knowledge and combine our efforts to make the University greener.
We host weekly meetings to discuss sustainability on campus and any ideas people have to improve it. We also often go to talks, as well as hosting our own, about topics around sustainability. We also have socials to get to know like and build a network of like minded people on campus and beyond!
We also host monthly meetings with members from all the different cooperatives on campus to keep each other up to date, share skills and potentially unite our forces to fight for a certain goal.
Sussex in Transition members also run the Fossil Free campaign, asking our university to take a stand and divest from Fossil Fuels
Our primary aims are:
- to connect all societies, initiatives and persons on campus already working towards a transitioned University
- be a platform of information about events and initiatives of the above
- to communicate news and articles surrounding the topic
- to promote personal and institutional change at Sussex University
