WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX TABLE TENNIS CLUB
We aim to create a friendly table tennis environment in the University of Sussex and cater for all skill levels by introducing tutorial sessions, tournaments and friendly matches for people of all abilities.
At The University Of Sussex Table Tennis club we are always looking for new players. Whether you have never picked up a bat before in your life or you have played at international tournaments there is a place for you at our club. We host weekly practice and training sessions and compete in the British University League (BUCS).
Our coach Rory Scott, has been coaching table tennis full-time for Ten years (& part time for 5 years prior to that). He has coached many county juniors and some who have gone on to become international players & national champions. He is locally based, plays for Sussex, is the Head Coach of Horsham Spinners TTC, and has ETTA Level 3 and UKCC Level 3 coaching qualifications.
On Tuesdays, we have a team training session in Mandela Hall 6-8pm. You need to be a club member but do not have to be on a team to attend this training, if you have played a bit before and are keen to improve then come along. On Wednesdays from 12-2 pm we have social sessions in Mandela Hall which are open to everyone so come along and bring your friends too! Also, from 2-6pm we usually have one or more of the university teams playing in the BUCS league against various other universities, so feel free to come to watch and support us!
We will also be running socials throughout the year, including meals out and lazer tag so get involved with these too! Check out our facebook group to keep up to date with everything that is going on!
Team Training: Tuesdays 6-8pm
Social Session (Everyone welcome to attend) : Wednesday 12-2pm
OUTDOOR TABLE TENNIS TABLES
Students and staff can now play table tennis outdoors with three new tables installed this week outside campus residences.
The tables have been provided by the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA), who chose Sussex following a competitive bid process. It is hoped that these new tables – outside Swanborough and Northfield - will further boost participation in the sport, particularly among students.
Bats and balls are available from Swanborough reception, remember your student card to rent them.
