Swing Dancing Society

Welcome to Swing Dance Society!

Swing Dance Society is a society for anyone who has an interest in Jazz-based music, Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston and Jive dancing, beginner or otherwise!

~Teaching and Performing~

We are the place to go to on campus to learn how to dance. We have a weekly term time course taught by a professional dance teacher along side free weekly practice sessions lead by the SwingSoc committee.
We are a very friendly, popular and encouraging society, we welcome everyone, so please don't hesitate to come along to one of our sessions! We also host many opportunities to compete and or perform with the society at both university-based and external events.

Furthermore, we also host a whole range of socials throughout the year, both non-alcoholic and otherwise. These have ranged from Ice-Skating, Masquerade and Summer Balls, Laserzone, Glo-Balls, Pizza & Movie Nights and lots more, with suggestions always welcome! We also go along to local swing dance nights in town at various jazzy venues for some fun social dancing!

~Community and Inclusivity~

Finally, our society also has a long history of working in the wider community, dancing at older people's homes and community events, and fundraising for local mental health and survivor's charities.

All of our classes, sessions and events operate in a safe-space, discrimination-free zone. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been dancing for years, we hope to see you on the dance floor soon
