SUSSEX WOMEN'S HOCKEY

USWHC: Strong Both On and Off the Pitch

Women's hockey looks to offer somethng for everyone, whether you've been drag flicking since you could walk or have never picked up a stick before, everyone is welcome to become a part USWHC! Being a part of Sussex Hockey will allow you to build friendships that will last forever and have the most incredible time during your time studying at Sussex....Come for the degree, stay for USWHC!

This year we have two teams in BUCS, as well as a development squad. We ask for commitment, a friendly attitude, and a love of two things: hockey and fancy dress!

TRAINING & MATCHES

Our two BUCS teams will train on a Monday 6-8pm and a Thursday 7.30-9pm. Matches will be played on Wednesday afternoons and will vary between home matches and away matches across south eastern universities.

Our third team/development squad will train Mondays 5-6pm. This session is open to all, a perfect way to introduce yourself to the sport and get moving! The session will focus on building skills and learning the rules ready to play in competitive matches. These matches will be against local clubs, some universities and some local sixth forms, there is no set day for these matches.

FITNESS: the best way to improve your game play? improve your fitness! As a club we will regularly attend park runs and fitness classes, keep up with your captain and our facebook pages for more info!

SOCIALS

The club has a brilliant social side, going out weekly every Wednesday after the day's matches. Every week is a different fancy dress theme and lots of fun. The socials are a great way to get to know each other better and bond as a club. You do not have to be part of the squad to come, anyone is welcome, the more the merrier!

We also go on TOUR around Easter with ILOVETOUR which is an incredible experience. It's a great opportunity to get to know your team mates even better and take our legendary fancy dress international.

CHARITY

Each year we nominate a charity to raise money for throughout the year. We will do all sorts to raise money and awareness, from pub quizzes, to the half marathon to bake sales! We want everyone from the club to be involved, and have a positive impact on our local community !
