Welcome to the University of Sussex Women's Basketball Team!
We're an international, friendly team, who train hard to push for excellent results. We play in the 2A South East League and take part in the South Eastern Conference Cup, in which we were runners up in 2016/17!
If you are interested in playing basketball but missed tryouts please attend the women's basketball Active US session Sundays 1-2pm at the Sports Centre where we can discuss further.
Team members are required to attend our two training sessions each week (Tuesday & Friday 6:30 pm)
Games are played on Wednesday afternoons, time dependant on the location and opposition.
All our fixtures are on the BUCS website: https://bucs.org.uk/bucscore/TeamProfile.aspx?id=788&sport=Basketball&institution=University%20of%20Sussex
Our team philosophy is to train as hard as possible, be completely focused on the court and fully committed to the team. But finally, enjoy our time together off the court at socials as we consider ourselves to be more than just a sports society, but a genuine group of close friends. Last year not only did we play well but we hosted charity basketball tournaments, won a student award and went to Valencia to play teams from all around Europe.
For anyone interested in playing basketball with less commitment or who didn't make the team, we have open sessions on Sundays 1-2pm that everyone can attend as part of the Active US scheme at Sussex. These sessions are open to any external members (e.g. non-students/ associate members) to any individual that identifies as a female!
