Sussex archery tag

Everyone is welcome! Not a student? Not a problem!

Whether you are a seasoned archer or have never even held a bow, all we require is the courage to join in. Please note that, in addition to the membership options shown to the right, we offer the option to pay per session (£5). These session fees are available up to 1 week in advance of the particular session and these do not apply to anyone with term or annual membership. Additionally, being a member of the University of Sussex is not a requirement, just come along to any session or contact the committee and we will be happy to help you arrange the membership option of your choice. Similarly, if you require special arrangements, feel free to get in touch.

Shooting With Us

If you already have some experience or have your own kit, check here for regular practice times and shooting information.

The Archery Tag Committee are always happy to help, answer questions, or have a chat about any questions you may have. Talk to the committee during practice sessions, drop by our Facebook to get in contact, or email us.

Basics of Archery Tag

Maybe you've seen Lord of the Rings or the Hunger Games and you're wondering how you can learn to shoot safely. This will get you started.

Archery Tag Game Ideas

Check out the games page for more ideas for the types of games we play, though we are always open to new ideas!

Basics of Archery

Maybe you've seen some modern target archery and are wondering what the difference is. This will cover what you need to know. Note that this leads to the University of Sussex Archery Club website.

Need some tips, want to contribute to game ideas, or give general feedback about how sessions and the society is run? Help us make Archery Tag the best it can be by telling us your ideas.

More about the society

We are open to everyone interested in archery, from complete beginners to experienced archers. For the novices, we can train you how to shoot safely, and we also provide all the equipment that you will need. Experienced archers are also welcome to join and shoot with us, however, use of personal equipment is strictly subject to inspection by the committee.

We also have frequent socials such as pub visits, laser quest, and a Christmas meal! All are welcome.

Leaf Awards

What is the Leaf Scheme?
Leaf awards reflect contributions of the society or sports club towards its members, the University of Sussex Students’ Union, the University of Sussex, the local community and the public. Leaves can be attained at bronze, silver or gold levels by meeting three, six or nine criteria. Leaves apply for an academic year as a symbol of what the present committee have achieved.

Groups can work towards nine leaves:

Below are the Leaves that have been achieved by previous committees:

Inclusivity Leaf

The Inclusivity Leaf is awarded to groups who have taken positive steps to increase the diversity of their membership and include as many members as possible. They have made specific efforts to include students that don’t traditionally engage, without ignoring or neglecting their current membership or other student groups.

Social Leaf

The Social leaf is awarded to groups who have taken active steps to include as many members as possible and regularly engage in various social activities, including those organised by - and with - other societies/sports clubs.
