Japan Society

Welcome! 


Whether you're a native Japanese speaker or if you're learning the language and looking to improve your skills/  you just have a general interest in the culture/ new to the university and make some new friends, the Japan Society is here to connect students ike those. We are an international society even though it says "Japan Socety", we are here to connect Japanese students and all the other international students, to make great friendships and simply one's university life better and more memorable! 

We hope to have meetings and socials where people can get to know each other and we will be organising various Japan related events, including film screenings, Japanese-English language exchanges, meals at Japanese restaurants, cookery tasters and sessions and nights out in Brighton.

Hi all, I hope the Japan Society is going to be the one that makes an environment anybody can come and enjoy, and as the president of the society, I am going to do my best with all the other board members to achieve this! Let's make this university exerience unforgettable! I love sushi so much so I happen to be at some Japanese restaurants in town quite often :P 

Kosuke Kawashima

I'm final year student studying International relations. Just got driving licence so this year I intend to drive around the UK as far as possible. Love football and detective story.

 

Michael Cao 

Hi there, My name is Michael, I am from China and have been study in Japan for one wonderful year. I am currently on my last year for my under-graduation course of Media and communication. I am really interesting in Japanese culture, and hope to experience some of that with all of you

Leaf Awards

What is the Leaf Scheme?
Leaf awards reflect contributions of the society or sports club towards its members, the University of Sussex Students’ Union, the University of Sussex, the local community and the public. Leaves can be attained at bronze, silver or gold levels by meeting three, six or nine criteria. Leaves apply for an academic year as a symbol of what the present committee have achieved.

Social Leaf

The Social leaf is awarded to groups who have taken active steps to include as many members as possible and regularly engage in various social activities, including those organised by - and with - other societies/sports clubs.
