Holiday opening hours at the Students' Union

If you’re on campus over the festive season you may find most parts of campus, including the Students’ Union, either closed or operating reduced hours.

The Students’ Union runs a number of services in Falmer House, a Lettings agency, two shops and two bars as well as a bar in central Brighton.These will all be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day in addition to dates listed below.

Shops and Bars

 

East Slope Bar logo

East Slope Bar is open 12-8pm on Saturday 12th December for a family event and then closed from Sunday 13th December. East Slope Bar will reopen from Monday 4th January operating reduced hours until Saturday 23rd January when normal hours will resume. The Hatch will be closed until Saturday 23rd January.

 

 

Falmer Bar logoFalmer Bar will be open 12pm-8pm between Monday 14th and Friday 18th December, then closed until Monday 4th January. Falmer Bar will then be open 12pm-8pm Monday to Friday until Saturday 23rd January. Room 76 and the Deli will both be closed throughout this period.

 

 

 

 

The Globe logoThe Globe, your Students’ Union bar in town, will remain open over the holiday period. The Globe will close at 8pm on Christmas Eve, remain closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with normal opening hours resuming on Sunday 27th December. They will be open until 4am on Thursday 31st December for a New Year’s Eve celebration with live music and DJs until late.

The Union Shop in Falmer House will be closed weekends from Saturday 12th December, and open 8am - 6pm weekdays from Monday 14th to Wednesday 23rd December. The shop will then be closed until Monday 4th January when normal opening hours will resume.

The Co-operative will be open 7am - 9pm from Christmas Eve until Sunday 3rd January, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when the shop will be closed. Normal opening hours will resume on Monday 4th January.

Sussex Student Lettings will be closed from Monday 21st December and will reopen Monday 4th January.

Students’ Union offices and departments

All offices will be closed during the afternoon on Wednesday 16th December.

The Students’ Union Reception in Falmer House will be closed from Saturday 12th December until Monday 4th January. Deliveries may be directed to individual departments. NUS Extra cards are available to purchase online and can be collected once Reception reopens in January.

The Activities Centre, including Sports, Societies and Volunteering, Campaigns and Representation, Communications, IT and Events will be closed from Monday 21st December and will reopen Monday 4th January.

Support and Advocacy will be closed from Monday 21st December and will reopen Tuesday 5th January.

Finance and Environment will be closed from Wednesday 23rd December and will reopen Monday 4th January.

Human Resources will be closed from Thursday 24th December and will reopen Monday 4th January.

When departments are closed it is unlikely staff will be checking their emails so there may be delays in responding to your queries. Likewise if you’re contacting the Students’ Union via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat there may be a delay in getting back to you. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
