Satisfaction with the Students' Union on the increase

Results from the National Student Survey, released today, show that overall satisfaction with the Students’ Union and many of the areas we’re involved in has increased.

Final year undergraduates responded to the survey earlier in the year which covers a number of areas of their experience at Sussex.

72% of respondents agreed that they were satisfied with the Students' Union at Sussex. This is up from 66% from last year and places us in the top 25% of students’ unions.

Other notable results include increases in satisfaction with social opportunities, opportunities to interact socially with other students, the range of clubs and societies on offer.

We were particularly pleased to see an increase in the number of students satisfied with the range of entertainment and social events on offer which increased from 66% to 72% pushing us further above the national average.

Some results in academic areas are particularly impressive, notably satisfaction with lecturers and other academic staff. We also noted areas that need improvements and look forward to working in these areas with the University over the coming year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff, volunteers, officers and students who make the Students' Union successful.

Abraham Baldry, Students’ Union President, said:

I am delighted that more students have recognised the positive impact that the Students' Union has on their time at Sussex.

We've been working hard to involve a wider range of students in what we offer and have been expanding our events programme to include a diverse variety of activities.

We're always interested in what students think and the National Student Survey is just one of the ways we gather feedback from students.”

The Loop

Each month your full-time officers get together to look at what comments you have submitted to the Loop over the past month. These are categorised into what is going well, what is going less well, and ideas for improvement. This feedback is acted upon: specific comments are sent to the University to inform their service and to take action if necessary.
