Last Friday (25th July) Sussex Students’ Union took over Jubilee Square in Brighton to showcase the positive contribution students and the Union make to the city and surrounding areas.
Part of our commitment to community engagement, our outreach event included information about the Union’s Community Rep scheme, campaigns, social policy, sports clubs, societies, lettings agency and city centre pub.
There were also many different family friendly activities on the day such as face-painting, arts and crafts, mini football, a wendy house and bike maintenance. Students’ Union cupcakes were provided and visitors could buy refreshing drinks from our ‘pop up’ Globe bar.
Residents who came along filled out feedback forms which asked for their current experience of Sussex students and their ideas for working collaboratively on projects with Sussex students.
We hope that this community outreach event will be the first of many within a programme of activities designed to better connect the Students’ Union with Brighton and Hove, and strengthen the relationship between Sussex students and other residents.
For more information, please take a look at the Community Rep Scheme webpages.

Each month your full-time officers get together to look at what comments you have submitted to the Loop over the past month. These are categorised into what is going well, what is going less well, and ideas for improvement. This feedback is acted upon: specific comments are sent to the University to inform their service and to take action if necessary.
