This week, students have cast their votes to influence the work that the Students’ Union does through our Autumn referendum. 581 students made their voices heard on two different referenda; whether the student’s union should have a policy to publicly support a new referendum on the final deal of the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union and whether the Students' Union should implement a policy on Sexual Violence?
Whether you campaigned in the referenda or cast your vote, you have been a part of making change happen at Sussex, so thank you for getting involved!
Please be aware that If you’d like to make a complaint about the procedure of the referenda or the referenda count then you have until next Friday 7th December at 6pm to do so.
If you are interested in having a cause you care about put to a student referendum, you can submit an idea for referendum through two different ways:
You can submit a petition with the support of at least 150 students. Any student can request a petition and once the petition reaches 150 student signatures, it will be considered for referendum.
You can submit a clear outline of your idea to one of the Full-Time Officers to take to the Union’s Executive Committee or to Union Council.
