Our bar management team have scooped a trophy and second place overall at the prestigious national Best Bar None Scheme awards ceremony, which was held at Manchester Metropolitan University this year.
Best Bar None is an accreditation scheme run by the NUS and supported by the Home Office. It sets out high standards and practices for those working in the licensed trade industry and ensures that student unions across the country offer a safe environment for their customers.
Deputy Venues Manager, Jordan Taylor, said:
"This year, Sussex were for the first time in the running to make it into the prestigious 100% Club, made up of those unions who score full marks in their assessed visit. Not only did we achieve this fantastic accolade, but were also placed second in the country overall, allowing us to take home a lovely trophy that we can all be proud of".
This year 53 universities were recognised for achieving the Best Bar None standard, with 31 universities joining their gold 100% Club. Bath University picked up the overall winners award for the second year running, having scored 100% at their assessment and 100% on their mystery shop.
