Find out about the new and returning societies at Sussex!
There are an incredible 40 new and returning societies at Sussex already this Autumn Term. Societies are run by students, for students, and you only need 3 current students to start a new society. Anyone can apply, and your application will be reviewed by the Society Reps. Find out more about starting a new group here.
The Society Reps are an elected group of students who are experienced society committee members and meet every week to make decisions about societies at Sussex. Read more about the Societies Committee here. The Reps review applications to start and re-new societies that did not hand-over to a new committee by the end Spring Term 2018, as well as allocate funding from the Societies Fund. They also shortlist the nominations for the societies category of the annual Student Awards, and report any issues that come up throughout the year to the Activities Officer. The Activities Officer chairs the Societies Committee, and also votes on the applications for new societies and funding bids to the Societies Fund.
The newly approved societies are currently being processed by the Societies and Student Media team, and will be online in the next couple of weeks.
