Autumn Term 2017 referenda results

This week, hundreds of students have cast their votes to influence the work that the Students’ Union does through our autumn referenda. 1547 students made their voices heard on two important issues, transport to campus and prices at the on-campus Co-op.

By voting, you have been a part of making change happen at Sussex, so thank you for getting involved!

If you are interested in having a cause you care about put to a student referendum, you can find out your options for submitting your referendum proposal - the deadline to submit a topic for the spring referenda next term is Monday 5th February at 8pm.


Should the Students’ Union adopt the Cheaper and Easier Travel to Campus policy?

1511 students took part
33 abstained

  • YES - 1415 (96%)
  • NO - 63 (4%)

The Cheaper and Easier Travel to Campus policy WILL be adopted by the Students’ Union.


Should the campus Co-op have more student friendly prices?

1531 students took part
26 abstained

  • YES - 1419 (94%)
  • NO - 86 (6%)

The Students’ Union WILL lobby the University and the Southern Co-operative to reduce prices for students at the campus Co-op.


The deadline for complaints concerning the referenda process and vote count for both referenda is 5pm on 8th December. Complaints should be emailed to returning@sussexstudent.com
