Extraordinary Members Meeting outcome

On Friday 31 October the Students’ Union held an Extraordinary Members Meeting to discuss the removal of the Socialist Worker Party and Socialist Workers’ Student Society from the Students’ Union.

The meeting was called following the submission of a petition of more than 150 students’ signatures requesting a meeting to discuss the motion.

Approximately 225 students attended the meeting and discussed the motion.

Attendees voted against supporting the motion with 44 voting in favour, 141 against and 35 abstentions.

As fewer than 450 students attended, no binding policy decisions could be made. The topic will now be referred to Students’ Union Council for discussion
