On December 4 we launched our new Students' Union campaign, Your Voice, Your Choice, in Falmer Bar with democracy-themed cocktails and Students' Union Officers dressed up as Abraham Lincoln and members of the Suffragette movement.
Attendees could take a photo with the I've Registered To Vote #GE15 photo frame; these pictures can be seen on Students' Union President Abraham Baldry's Facebook page.
The campaign, Your Voice, Your Choice, aims to encourage students at Sussex to register to vote in the upcoming 2015 general election.
In past years students at Sussex have automatically been added to the ballot, but recent changes to the voting system mean that voters must register themselves online using their National Insurance number and address details.
Education Officer, Bethan Hunt, said:
I am really happy with the launch, it was great to be able to talk to Sussex students about the 2015 general election and confidence-inspiring that so many students had already registered to vote online.
We are planning more events in the future, such as a version of question time, and promotion of National Voter Registration Day on 5 February.
I am confident about this campaign's ability to encourage Sussex students to take back their voice and make a change this coming year.
