After a number of years of great campaigning and positive changes: the Your Voice Your Choice campaign will be drawing to a close. Over the last two years, this fantastic campaign has worked hard to get students registered to vote, and successfully lobbied the University and setting up a two-click registration process on Sussex Direct for all students.
Under this campaign, the Officers focussed their work on rallying students to turn up for the 2015 General Election, and last year’s EU Referendum. This campaign worked collaboratively with local and national campaign groups and organisations, the Council and enthusiastic individuals. It’s done some great work, and has played a part in increasing the amount of young people getting to the polls. This campaign has had a lot of successes, and we are happy with what it has achieved.
Removing Your Voice Your Choice as an official campaign doesn’t mean we’re going to stop doing the work. The Union will still be working on lobbying the University to fix the problems with the two-click registration process, and we will still be providing opportunities for students to get engaged with local and national politics.
The your Voice Your Choice brand will still live on, and the background work of the campaign will be incorporated into the work the Union does. Any students hosting political events are welcome to use the Your Voice Your Choice brand to help boost their event. If you’re interested in using the branding, please email email@example.com
