The Students' Union carries out Rate Your Landlord, an annual survey of students' experience in the private rented housing sector. We've collated feedback provided by students who responded to the 2013/14 survey on the letting agents they most commonly used. This may be of interest to students looking for accommodation in the private rented sector.
The information sheets summarise feedback given by students in key areas such as customer service, fees, clear information and problem resolution. They also include general information about renting in Brighton & Hove and tips to find a suitable place to live.
You can download the information sheets below. Each agent is awarded a key rating out of 5. Agents are listed in order from the highest rated by students.
The Rate Your Landlord survey is a way of encouraging students to express their views and participate in the Students' Union. The Students' Union uses the information provided to help inform the work we do to improve the experience of all students living in the private rented sector. You can read the full report of last year's survey findings online.
Responses to the survey are entirely voluntary and as such may be subject to biases on the part of respondents, therefore the findings should be treated with caution. These sheets are provided for information only.
The information has been independently collated from student responses to the 2013/14 Rate Your Landlord survey and is in no way the opinion of the University of Sussex or the Students' Union.
The 2014/15 Rate Your Landlord survey will be launching later this term - keep an eye out so you can tell us about your experiences, good and bad.
