Hello and welcome, here's what I did this week…
Started off with a sports reps meeting where we discussed how to make sport better and the steps needed to create an Athletics Union at Sussex. The sports reps came up with some amazing ideas and I am really excited to work with them to make this dream a reality. I also researched the possibilities of having an app for society and club bank accounts, where a live account balance would be viewable… watch this space.
I have met with the Women's Lacrosse team to work out how they can accommodate a very expanding number of people wanting to join the club with the lack of training space and resources. Had Societies committee where funding was approved for the Hack Sussex 24 hour event as well as approving new societies including the Walking & Hiking society, Commercial Awareness society and For the Love of Grub society!
On Wednesday I supported some of our sports teams in their BUCS fixtures and spoke to students who had queries in the Union Hub. I have also been doing lots of planning as to how to achieve my manifesto pledges and how to make the Union better! This week also saw the start of my social media rampage which I aim to continue (as long as I don't get any complaints!). This included publishing when sports fixtures were on a displaying the results, being more interactive and giving more groups a platform to showcase their amazing events on. And posting a blog post on what being on the Board of Trustee means to try and get more people engaging in the Union. Follow me on Instagram for daily updates @sussexactivitiesofficer
This job is possibly the most bizarre thing I’ll ever do but it's also the most rewarding. I love being able to help students on a daily basis and make improvements that will affect students lives long after I have left the Union, so thank you all for being here for the ride. Have a brilliant weekend and stay safe <3

Did you know that the Union runs a support service which is confidential and independent of the University? Last year 95% of students surveyed said they would recommend Support & Advocacy to a friend and 80% were less worried after talking to us!

My aim in writing this is to get more students aware of what goes on in the SU, more students thinking about how we can make it better and ultimately shine a light on an important part of being an Officer.

The Students’ Union and International Student Support Team are closely working together to make sure international students feel more at home at Sussex through improved communication, better living arrangements and career development opportunities, integration with home students and that they are able to get involved with events and other social aspects of university life.
