One World Sussex is run by the Students' Union and University to celebrate diversity in the Sussex community.

One World Sussex events aim to expose students to a globalised world and diversity of cultures.

The multitude of nationalities and cultures of our students and staff provides an excellent opportunity for us to put on events that engage, educate and entertain, from raising global awareness through lectures on world issues to the celebration of cultural festivals.

Through this sharing of cultures we hope to encourage the successful integration of UK and international students, promoting the mutual identity of a global campus for everyone to celebrate and enjoy.

One World Sussex aims to:

  1. Develop an appreciation of different cultures
  2. Cultivate an understanding of global issues
  3. Showcase personal development opportunities
  4. Highlight international opportunities for Sussex students and staff from different backgrounds
  5. Foster a sense of global community

One World Week

One World Week gives students and staff an opportunity to share aspects of their own cultures with others, promote cultural understanding and explore global issues.

Thousands of students take part in the annual celebration, by attending events that showcase food, language and culture. Many of the events are organised by student societies, with the support of the University of Sussex and the Students' Union.

One World Week 2019 will be held between the 18th and 22nd March.
