Candidate for the position of NUS Black Students' Conference delegate
Dedicated proven leadership. Accountable servant
A a NUS Black Students' Conference delegate, I will ensure that all students’ voices are heard. I believe in collective teamwork and being attentive to the concerns of the students. I believe that the position in the Students’ union is a position of trust. This calls for diligence and prudence in how the affairs of the Students Union are managed. During my undergraduate studies, I served as Director of Publications, Information and Publicity for the Students’ Union of Chancellor College, a constituent college of the University. I thus bring with me unparalleled experience in student unionism. My previous role with student unionism enabled me to understand the needs of students. It equipped me with the wherewithal of dealing with students concerns and needs. I also had the opportunity of working as General Secretary for Silver Strikers Football Club of Malawi. Silver Strikers participates in the elite football league of Malawi, The Super League of Malawi. This enhanced my leadership skills.
I would like to be remembered as someone who optimally pursued the interests of the students and achieved great things. I believe that the University of Sussex’s grievance mechanism needs to be reformed, particularly in relation to requests for remarking of exam/essay scripts if they feel aggrieved with the results.
I believe in team work and I shall be soliciting views from students on how to improve the welfare of the students. Over the next year I want to see more power in the hands of students and this will be an underlying objective of any changes that I make over my term as your delegate.
Voting for me will ensure that your expectations and desires are pursued to the maximum.
