FAQs

Who works in the Union Computer shop?

The shop is manned and run by fully-trained student volunteers from a wide range of disciplines. Any student with tech knowledge and passion can get involved. Take a look at Becoming a Volunteer for more details.

Do you have any affiliation with IT Services?

We are a separate service from ITS. However, we have an excellent reciprocal relationship with them: they carry our leaflets and we display many of their posters in our shop. We recommend looking at their pages for information on ResNet, eduroam, other tech issues and advice.

If your service is not-for-profit, where does my money go?

You will be charged for parts ordered to repair your laptop. We will always inform you of the cost and provide confirmation of the order via our ticketing system. If you pay for health checks and other services, your money gets invested back into the shop to purchase equipment, storage space and other items to make our shop better.
