Sport at Sussex is broad and diverse with something for everyone, regardless of experience so whether you're into running, catching, climbing, skiing or hitting things with sticks why not take a look at what's on offer?

You can take a look at our list of sports clubs, find out about membership and other sports opportunities including sports facilities, gym and classes. We also have information for sports club committee members.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still join a club if I missed the Freshers Fair or taster sessions?

If you have missed the taster session(s) for the club(s) you are interested you can still turn up to the training session, advertised on the club's website or contact the club directly for more information.

What level of ability are the sports clubs for?

We try to accommodate as many levels of ability as possible. Some clubs have more than one team and/or training session which allows beginners to get to grips with the basics and more advanced participants the chance to hone their skills. If you're not sure whether the club will suit you,  contact the club directly.

Why do I have to pay to join a sports club?

We'd love to offer all of our opportunities for free but unfortunately we have to ask students to contribute to the cost of the club(s) they join. The Students' Union subsidises approximately 2/3 of the costs of sports clubs and we do our best to make sure you get value for money. You get a lot for your membership fee including training, kit, coaching and more (depending on the club(s) you join) and it allows you to join as many clubs as you want.

What sports do you offer?

The Students' Union supports a wide range of clubs which are run by students. The University also supports some martial arts clubs, runs courses and works with us to run the intra-mural scheme which provides opportunities to take part in some one-off tournaments and activities. There are also lots of other sports clubs in the local area.
