Advice

The Advice & Representation Centre  can give you free, independent and confidential information, advice and support on a range of academic and non-academic issues.

We have professional advisers and elected student representatives and the service is completely confidential, independent from the University and no issue is too big or too small for us to deal with.

The Students' Union is here to help you make the most of your time at Sussex so if there's something bugging you that you think is likely to be affecting other students as well tell us about it by filling in our online form

Advice for postgraduates

Common problems we deal with from postgraduates are mainly around insufficient funding for their courses, and occasionally difficulties with their student status for benefits/council tax purposes if they are in a writing up/continuation status period.

It can be really difficult and competitive to secure funding and we can only advise to make applications early, have contingency plans and investigate all your options. It is best NOT to start a course without sufficient funds to pay your fees and support yourself financially.

Also our elected Education Officer is available to help you with any issues you have with your course, for example, if you are having difficulties with your supervisor. The Education Officer can be contacted on 01273 873324 or by email on education@ussu.sussex.ac.uk
