Advice

The Advice & Representation Centre  can give you free, independent and confidential information, advice and support on a range of academic and non-academic issues.

We have professional advisers and elected student representatives and the service is completely confidential, independent from the University and no issue is too big or too small for us to deal with.

The Students' Union is here to help you make the most of your time at Sussex so if there's something bugging you that you think is likely to be affecting other students as well tell us about it by filling in our online form

Housing advice

The following housing pages offer advice on your rights when living in the private sector (and some is relevant if you're in campus accommodation). If you are a council/housing association tenant or have a mortgage, please contact the Advice & Representation Centre directly for advice about your situation.

If you're looking for somewhere to live, have a look at the University's on-line database at www.yourstudentpad.co.uk for students seeking accommodation. Properties available to rent in the 2012/13 academic year will be advertised on the studentpad site from 25 January 2012.

If you're looking for accommodation with letting agencies the best place to start is the new Student Union Letting agency- Sussex Student Lettings. The benefit for you is that unlike most letting agents they don't charge students any fees. Come and see them in Falmer House ( 1st floor adjacent to the Common Room) , call them on 01273 678787, or check out their website http://www.sussexstudentlettings.com

See our useful Moving On resource guide for info including what to do when moving in and moving out, an inventory checklist, tips for reducing your fuel bills and improving home security.
