The Advice & Representation Centre  can give you free, independent and confidential information, advice and support on a range of academic and non-academic issues.

We have professional advisers and elected student representatives and the service is completely confidential, independent from the University and no issue is too big or too small for us to deal with.

The Students' Union is here to help you make the most of your time at Sussex so if there's something bugging you that you think is likely to be affecting other students as well tell us about it by filling in our online form

Benefits & tax credits advice

Want to know how being a student will affect your benefits? Not sure if you're eligible to claim? Think you've been assessed incorrectly? Unhappy with a decision?

The comprehensive pages listed below contain information about all of this and much more.

Here at the Students' Union Advice and Representation Centre we understand that the rules surrounding welfare benefits and tax credits are confusing at the best of times, and are often even more so once you become a student. Our professional advisers can advise you on any benefit or tax credit issue so if you can't find what you need on the pages below and you need some advice just get in touch.

The Students' Union is here to help you make the most of your time at Sussex so if there's something that's creating an obstacle to you living to your full potential we want to know so we can try to do something about it. If there's something bugging you that you think is likely to be affecting other students as well tell us about it by filling in our online form.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: If you are an international student you should take a look at our information about benefits and tax credits for international students for information about benefits and tax credits, as the pages listed above will not be relevant to you, and making a claim for many benefits will jeopardise your leave to remain in the UK.

Please be aware that we are only able to advise current or prospective students
