Being elected as Union Councillor means you will be representing the views & interests of students within your School of study, and making sure that these views are reflected in the activities of the Union. You will be the main point of contact between the student reps and the Union, as well as being responsible for holding the full-time and part-time officers to account.
Becoming a Union Councillor for your school is a great way of getting involved with decision making in the Union, and has the broadest remit of any elected position.
Union Councillors are the most important link between the Union and the Student Reps scheme. A key responsibility for Union Councillors is to make time to listen to student opinion and meet regularly with School Student Reps in their school. This is to make sure they are aware of and can represent issues and concerns affecting students' academic experience as well as feeding back what goes on in the Union.
Undergraduate Union Councillors are elected from for each of the current academic schools in the summer term. Two taught and two research postgraduate Union Councillors are elected in the autumn term.
