All registered students at the University of Sussex and Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) are members of the Students’ Union and can influence what the Students’ Union does by voting in our elections, providing feedback on our services, taking part in meetings and more. There are three types of membership.
The following automatically become full members of the Students' Union upon enrolment with the University;
Full members have the right to use Union facilities and premises, participate in all Union activities, stand for election as officers or representatives of the Union and nominate or vote for candidates in our elections.
Note that the following are not full members of the Students' Union
Intermitting and continuation University of Sussex students are associate members (see below) but can enjoy all the benefits of full membership except the right to stand, nominate or second candidates or vote in Union elections.
Anyone may become an associate member of the Students' Union upon payment of the associate membership fee by signing up at www.sussexstudent.com/membership. The following become associate members automatically on enrolment with their instutition
Associate members can be members (though not committee members) of sports clubs and societies. They may not represent the University in any way
The Students' Union can bestow honorary membership on individuals. Honorary members can be members (though not committee members) of sports clubs and societies. They may not represent the University in any way
